Strong Communities

The way we work is designed in collaboration with our residents. We know that involving our residents enables us to deliver better services that support wellbeing, connection and belonging. Our approach to community development and resident engagement has four focus areas:

  • Connecting residents with their neighbours and community
  • Influencing how we design and deliver services
  • Thriving communities through opportunities
  • Celebrating the strength and resilience of our residents and the community

Residents can build better relationships with people important to them

Our Block Blitz offers residents maximum impact with minimum inconvenience through a day of repairs, inspections, activities and chats, with prizes and a BBQ lunch.

Residents connected with our teams, local services and each other. On top of completing fire safety and routine property inspections, our team and contractors blitzed the community room and gardens, which have since been activated by residents. Movie and pizza nights now bring residents together and the community garden is producing herbs and vegetables shared by all.

Block Blitz was the bright idea of our Contract Manager and 2022 Bravo Award winner, Jessica Turner.

Clear Home, Clear Mind is a workshop to upskill tenants with practical tools and tips to declutter their home. Hoarding is the excessive accumulation of things in the home coupled with distress at the thought of letting go of items. It can take over a person’s home to a point where it’s not safe. Trauma and grief are the main reasons people hoard, with things replacing the presence of an important person or offering safety.

As an early intervention strategy, Clear Home, Clear Mind supports people starting to struggle with home care so they have a safe and habitable place where they can have family and friends over.

Clear Home, Clear Mind was the bright idea of our Housing Support Coordinator and 2022 Bravo Award winner Karmen Sestito.

‘I wanted tips that could help me maintain and have a safe and clean home to live in for me and my cat. When my home’s ordered and functional I feel relaxed’
